Due to various changes over the years, the following master install kits are required to install modern (2011+) Ford 9.75" gears into the following axle housings:
*Because all 9.75" axles look identical from the outside, the only way to determine the model year of a junkyard/sourced axle is to cross reference the pinion bearing and race part numbers.
Axle Details
The Ford 9.75" axle is a slightly smaller version of the Ford 10.25" / 10.5" Sterling axle and features a 9.75" diameter ring gear with 34 spline semi-floating axle shafts. While its bigger brother is found under full-size Ford trucks, the 9.75" model came as standard equipment under almost every modern Ford F-150 and '97 to '06 Expeditions. The ring and pinion gears changed in 2011, but will still fit older axles with the proper conversion bearings.
