Toyota 4Runners are extremely capable off-road even in base form. Modern 4Runners produce enough power and have extremely advanced traction control systems that rarely require any gear or locker upgrades with tires up to 33" tall. For extreme off-road applications a set of ARB air lockers and aftermarket gears are recommended.
Toyota 4Runner Gen. 3 (1995 - 2002)
The following gears, lockers and install kits are available for 1995 to 2002 Toyota 4Runner 2wd and 4x4 SUVs. All first generation 4Runner 4x4 models came with the reverse rotation Toyota 7.5" IFS front differential. All 4Runners with a factory rear electric locker came with the Toyota 8" TV6 rear axle and all 4x4 4Runners without the electric locker were built with the Toyota 8" rear axle. 2wd 4Runners came with either the standard Toyota 7.5" rear axle or the larger Toyota 8.4" axle.

• Parts will not fit '86-04 4Runners w/ 40mm bearings.

Toyota 4Runner Gen. 4 (2003 - 2009)
The following gears, lockers and install kits are available for 2003 to 2009 Toyota 4Runner models. All fourth generation 4Runner 4x4 models feature the reverse rotation Toyota 8" IFS clamshell front differential. All 4Runners with a factory rear electric locker came with the Toyota 8" TV6 rear axle while open differential 4Runners were built with the Toyota 8" rear axle.

Toyota 4Runner Gen. 5 (2010-2020)
The following gears, lockers and install kits are available for 2010 to 2020 Toyota 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Lexus GX460, and Land Cruiser Prado 150 models. All fifth generation 4Runners featured the reverse rotation Toyota 8" IFS clamshell front differential and the Toyota 8.2 rear axle with and available OEM electric locker.

* To replace the factory electic locker, a non-elocker 3rd member is required. The new locker would then wire into the factory harness.
• Due to how well the factory traction control system works on this generation of Toyota SUVs, lockers are generally only needed for the most extreme off-road applications.
