D44HD - Dana 44HD axles are not compatible with standard Dana 44 components and, unfortunately, aftermarket lockers are not currently available for this model.

D44A / D44HDA - Aluminum housing Dana 44 axles found under the Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ are not compatible with standard Dana 44 components.


Axle Details
The Dana 44 axle has been in use since the 1940s and is still a very popular axle today. It features a 8.5" ring gear, 19, 30, or 32 spline semi-floating axle shafts, and is available in both solid axle and IFS/IRS configurations for front and rear (standard and reverse rotation) applications. Dana 44 axles can be identified by their 10 cover bolts, hexagon shaped diff cover with very round edges, and a fill plug located near the axle centerline. In many cases, a “44” can be found cast into the back of the differential casing on the top right and top left next to diff cover. An axle ID tag may also be attached by one of the diff cover bolts.

*All parts listed below are designed for use with 3/8" ring gear bolts and will not fit Corvette and Viper differentials that use 7/16" bolts ring gear bolts.


Note: This axle has a Carrier Break and gear changes may require a different carrier or thick gears.
