This Eaton TrueTrac fits 1971 to 1989 GM 8.5" axles with 28 spline c-clip shafts.

Axles with 2.89" bearing bore ('98 & older) require LM102949 / LM102911 bearings.
Axles with 3.06" bearing bore ('99-'03) require LM603049 / LM603012 bearings.


This differential fits 2.73 and numerically higher gears. Do not use "thick" gears.

TrueTrac differentials are Torsen style limited slip differentials that use helical gears instead of clutch packs to offer automatic torque biased traction to both drive wheels at all times. The ingenious design limits the speed of each wheel to about 1.5 times faster or slower than the opposite wheel to provide full-time traction while still allowing for wheel speed differentiation in turns. The heavy duty all-gear design not only makes for quite and smooth operation, it requires no maintenance and will never weaken or wear out like a typical limited slip differential. These unique features make the Eaton TrueTrac ideal for race cars, rally cars, trail rigs, full size trucks, and daily drivers. The design works so well, in fact, that the US military chose the Torsen differential as standard equipment on Humvee's (and the civilian Hummer H1).
