Axle Details
The GM 9.5" axle can be found in the rear of most GM mid-size trucks and SUVs. It features a large 9.5" diameter ring gear and accepts 33 spline semi-floating axle shafts that are held in place by c-clips. In 2014 this axles was changed to the GM 9.5" 12-bolt axle with a 12 bolt differential cover to distinguish it from this 14 bolt model. Gears, lockers, and installation kits are not compatible between the older 14-bolt and newer 12-bolt GM 9.5" axles.

Detroit Truetrac Lockers are maintenance free, fully mechanical, Torsen style limited slip differentials with helical gears instead of clutch packs (which wear out over time) to provide constant torque to both wheels while still allowing for smooth turns on pavement. more info
