Axle Notes: 2017 and newer Ford Super Duty front axles use a 28 spline short pinion so these axles are not compatible with traditional Dana Super 60 gears or differentials.
Axle Details
Dana Super 60 front axles have been used under the front of Ford Super Duty trucks from 2002 to 2016 and feature 35 spline axle shafts, improved inner axle seals, larger 10" reverse rotation gears, and unit bearing outer hubs. From 1999 to 2002, Ford used a Dana 50 axle that looks identical to the Super 60 so, if sourcing a junkyard axle, make sure the axle housing does NOT have the number "229" cast into the carrier housing. A Dana Super 60 rear axle was also used by Chevy from 2003-2010 and used a 12 bolt differential cover and 33 spline axle shafts. The parts listed here will NOT fit Dana Super 60 rear axles or 2017 and newer Ford Super 60 front axles.
Note: This axle has a Carrier Break and gear changes may require a different carrier or thick gears.
