Dana 70 - Uses Dana 60 pinion and carrier bearings with larger carrier and gears.

Dana 70U - Features an offset pinion for 3.54 and numerically lower gear ratios.

Dana 70HD - Heavy Duty model uses larger Dana 80 carrier and bearings.

Dana High Pinion - Parts listed below are not compatible with reverse rotation front axles.

Due to the many unusual variations of the Dana 70 axle, the customer must verify their axle configuration prior to ordering. A 20% restocking fee applies to all returns.

Dana 70, 70U: Timken 387A / 382S (2.25" ID / 3.8125" OD)
Dana 70HD: Timken 469 / 453X (2.25" ID / 4.125" OD)

Axle Details

The Dana 70 axle has been around for decades and is commonly found under full-size GM, Dodge, and Ford trucks. The axle is available in both front and rear applications and features a large 10.5" ring gear. Standard D70 models have 30 or 35 spline axles, however, the Dana "Super" 70 is the holy grail of the series with massive 37 spline shafts. Dana 70 axles look similar to the D60 and D80 with a 10 bolt asymmetrical cover with a fill plug on the axle centerline, however, the easiest way to spot the D70 is the "70" cast into the housing.
