Axle Details
The Dana 30 axle has been in use for over 50 years and is available in many different solid axle and IFS configurations for front and rear applications with both high and low pinion designs (for standard and reverse rotation). Although all Dana 30 housings looks similar, there are minor differences within the countless variations of the axle over the years so it is extra important to identify the exact model of your axle before ordering parts.
Dana 30 axles can be identified by their 10 cover bolts (five on top, five on bottom), oval cover shape with flat sides and a fill plug just below the axle center line and a “30” cast into the back of the differential casing on the top right and top left of the diff cover. An axle ID tag might also be attached to one of the diff cover bolts.
Note: This axle has a Carrier Break and gear changes may require a different carrier or thick gears.
