Axle Details
The Chrysler 8.25" axle is found in many Dodge and Jeep vehicles and comes in several different configurations. The 2005 and new Chrysler 8.25" axle features larger 29 spline axle shafts and uses metric ring gear bolts. All other models have 27 spline axle shafts. The easiest way to identify the axle is to check for 10 cover bolts, an oval shaped cover, and a fill plug just below the centerline. You might also be able to find the ID tag wrapped around the passenger side axle tube with the axle ID and gear ratio listed on it.
